Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Wire Harness & Cable Assembly Design


Design the Electrical Systems That Power Critical Industries

Our client is a growing custom manufacturer of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and electromechanical interconnect solutions serving customers in aerospace, industrial automation, transportation, medical device, power generation, and other mission-critical industries.

They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, collaborating directly with customers, and taking products from concept through production. This is a highly visible engineering role where you'll influence product design, mentor engineers, and drive continuous improvement across the organization.


What You'll Do

As the technical leader on customer projects, you will:

  • Design custom wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and electromechanical interconnect systems
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and technical documentation
  • Partner directly with customers to develop innovative electrical solutions
  • Perform electrical analysis, component selection, design verification, and validation testing
  • Evaluate manufacturability and support quoting activities for new business opportunities
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to optimize designs for production efficiency
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions for electrical product issues
  • Improve product reliability, quality, and cost through engineering improvements
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept through production launch
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple projects
  • Participate in customer design reviews, audits, and technical presentations
  • Ensure compliance with IPC, UL, NEC, CSA, IEC, and customer-specific requirements


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 7+ years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience designing:
    • Wire harnesses
    • Cable assemblies
    • Control panels
    • Electromechanical systems
  • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Experience performing electrical testing, troubleshooting, and validation
  • CAD and electrical design software experience
  • Ability to translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs
  • Excellent communication and project leadership skills


Preferred Experience
