About this opportunity:
The Electrical Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of electrical equipment at the Superior Refinery. This role supports preventive maintenance development, project execution, equipment troubleshooting and repair, and root cause failure analysis to eliminate defects, prevent repeat failures, and continuously improve equipment reliability.

What you'll do:
  • Drive electrical equipment availability and reliability improvements across assigned units.
  • Perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for electrical equipment failures that meet defined thresholds and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead unit vulnerability studies and develop reliability roadmaps, including long-term reliability plans and performance goals.
  • Develop obsolescence strategies and long-range mitigation plans for bad actors and underperforming electrical equipment.
  • Govern and administer electrical condition monitoring programs, including transformer oil analysis, PDMA testing, heat trace alarms, and motor vibration monitoring.
  • Maintain ETAP electrical distribution and arc flash models, and develop protective device settings to ensure system accuracy and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical area classification, NEC, local/state codes, and Cenovus electrical construction standards while serving as the utility provider interface.
  • Provide technical support for maintenance planning and capital projects, including design package development, drawing reviews, specification verification, and support through FEL, MOC, PSSR, and design review phases.

Who you are:
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Bachelor of science in electrical engineering
  • 8+ years of experience in operating a refinery or chemical plant with similar responsibilities
