Junior Database Developer
Position Profile

Reports To: VP of Digital & IT FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt
Summary
The Junior Database Developer position will be responsible for the design, management, and ongoing maintenance of ERIK'S ERP/POS database systems within the Claris FileMaker Platform. Working with our existing teams and resources, this position will develop a strong understanding of ERIK'S business in order to develop and troubleshoot with precision whilst ensuring database integrity. Prior knowledge of the FileMaker/Claris programming platform is not required, but strong database management skills and an exceptional attention to detail are essential for this position, as even small data errors can have a significant impact on business operations.
This position will also have the opportunity to apply AI-assisted tools and API integrations to streamline data workflows, automate routine tasks, and enhance reporting; experience or strong interest in this area is a plus.
Position Details
The primary responsibilities and areas of impact of this position include, but are not limited to:
Main Duties
• Design, build, and manage relational database structures and workflows using the Claris FileMaker Platform
• Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot existing database solutions to ensure consistent performance and accuracy
• Carefully review, audit, and validate data with a high degree of attention to detail to ensure database integrity at all times
• Document database structures, processes, and procedures for end-user instruction
• Maintain clean, well-organized, and meticulously documented data and code, adhering to database management best practices
• Learn and assist with the management of Claris Servers
• Build and maintain API integrations to connect FileMaker/Claris with third-party systems and services
• Explore and apply AI-powered tools (e.g., AI coding assistants, automated data validation, and workflow automation) to improve database development speed, accuracy, and reporting capabilities
• Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and best practices, including advances in AI and API-based integrations
Position Requirements
Experience
• 2 years of experience in Database Management, Design, and Programming
• Working knowledge of API integrations and usage, including connecting systems such as FileMaker/Claris to third-party and AI-powered services (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, or similar APIs)
• Exposure to or hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) for coding, data analysis, or process automation is a plus
Skills
• Strong database management, design, and programming knowledge
• Prior experience with Claris/FileMaker is a huge plus
• Experience maintaining data integrity and accuracy across large relational databases, with a meticulous, detail-focused approach
• Understanding of data quality assurance and database reporting best practices
• Exceptional attention to detail - a critical, non-negotiable skill for this role, given its direct impact on data accuracy and business operations; strong analytical mindset
• Familiarity with AI/LLM concepts and tools, and the ability to apply them to database automation, data quality checks, and workflow efficiency
• Comfort working with and integrating APIs, including AI-powered APIs, to connect systems and automate data exchange
• Advanced problem-solving skills
• Ability to be self-motivated and exhibit a high degree of professionalism
• Passion for Cycling, Snowboarding and/or skiing is a big plus
