Job description

Position Summary
Reporting to the VP of Technical Solutions, the Senior Estimating Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cost estimates and customer quotations for new and existing business opportunities. This role applies advanced technical knowledge of manufacturing processes to evaluate product specifications, develop cost models, and support profitable quoting decisions. This is a senior-level individual contributor role with no direct supervisory responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Core Estimating
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for RFQs
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models
  • Develop cost models including labor, materials, overhead, and tooling
  • Validate routing and process assumptions with Engineering and Operations
  • Estimate cost impact of design changes and engineering revisions

Profitability & Analysis
  • Ensure quotes align with established margin targets
  • Support review of pricing prior to submission
  • Perform post-award cost validation and basic variance analysis
  • Provide cost analysis support to Finance as requested

Collaboration
  • Coordinate RFQ activity between Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain
  • Participate in technical reviews and program kick-off meetings
  • Summarize key cost drivers and assumptions for internal stakeholders

Process Support
  • Maintain estimating tools, templates, and cost databases
  • Identify opportunities to improve quoting accuracy and efficiency

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in quoting, estimating, costing, or manufacturing engineering
  • Strong understanding of machining and medical device manufacturing processes
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex RFQs
  • Strong blueprint reading and CAD familiarity
  • Advanced financial acumen and margin analysis capability
  • Proven cross-functional leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in regulated medical manufacturing environment
  • Experience with ERP systems (IFS ideally)
  • Experience supporting customer negotiations
  • Lean or continuous improvement experience
  • CAD and blueprint reading expertise

Compensation and Benefits Overview
Starting Pay Range for this position is $90,000-$115,000 annually. This position is eligible to participate in the company's bonus program.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with applicable county or city regulations if they exceed the listed range. Actual pay rates are determined based on various factors, including but not limited to, local labor market conditions, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language proficiency, and other job-specific qualifications.
Employees and their families are eligible to participate in a comprehensive benefits package, including company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), voluntary benefits, supplemental life/AD&D insurance, and the company's 401(k) plan.
