Data & Analytics Architect

Job Title: Data & Analytics Architect Location: Short Hills, NJ / Hartford CT / Charlotte, NC (Hybrid working - 3 days a week)

Job Summary:

  • Aligning to different products they have, commercial and personal lines underwriting, claims, etc. products
  • Trying to align the data teams to those products
  • Dedicated data architects to those teams (to some extent)
  • P&C insurance would be nice to have but this is technical role - but def preferred

Tech:

  • Cloud architecture - Azure/Databricks - main needs
  • Power BI understanding
  • Understanding of data modeling
  • Fairly hands on - should be able to write code
  • Data engineering skills - PySpark understanding
  • Manager level role but more of an IC type position from a technical perspective

Job Description:

  • The Data and Analytics Architect is responsible for the overall design of the data, platforms, and applications (batch/real time, cloud/hybrid) within our Information Management area (including Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics).
  • This will include the definition of standards, best practices, policies and procedures, integration patterns, data models, high level data flows and data services.
  • This Architect will work in collaboration with IT Application Development teams, Enterprise Architecture, and business partners to establish data and analytics architecture patterns, evaluate new tools and technologies, provide recommendations, support POCs, and assist with implementation/adoption as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with Delivery Managers to balance rapid delivery of business solutions with sound technical solutions and on development team member competencies, skills, and overall productivity.
  • Collaborate with Delivery teams to define, select, and implement data, analytics, and information solutions that consider business objectives and meet non-functional requirements.
  • Assist the Enterprise Architect in the planning process for new business initiatives through buy/build recommendations, vendor solutions evaluations, assessing designs against company standards, evaluating technical risk and define and align technology and roadmaps with business strategies.
  • Monitor trends and evaluates emerging technologies that are candidates for the future state data and analytics architecture or evolving business strategy and supports vendor analysis and proofs-of-concept to validate new technologies, solutions, and designs as needed.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Junior Architects and Developers in data and analytics technologies, best practices, innovation, designs, and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in Data and Analytics Architecture
  • P&C Insurance industry experience preferred.
  • Understanding of Data Design methodologies and their application in complex multi-tier systems.
  • Knowledge of Real Time, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web Oriented Architecture (WOA)
  • Strong understanding of Data warehouses, Data Marts and Data Lake.
  • Ability to develop and architect solutions based on non-functional requirements.
  • Experience with Power BI, Azure ML, Azure Databricks, IICS and/or Informatica PowerCenter is preferred.
  • Experience architecting and data modeling in Azure ecosystem is preferred.
  • Superior technical knowledge in Data Quality, Standards, Governance, and Design
  • Ability to effectively work well with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and the ability to communicate with audiences at varying technical levels.

A reasonable, good faith estimate of the minimum and maximum base salary for this position is $170 K to $180 K per year with Bonus. Employee benefits will also be available, and details are available like Pension/401K/ Paid Vacation/ Life, Medical & Dental insurance etc. * The pay range listed above reflects the expected starting salary /Pay rate for this role. This range may be adjusted based on market conditions, location, and other relevant factors. The Company will determine the final starting salary/Pay rate in consultation with the selected candidate(s), in full compliance with applicable laws
