Job description

The Merchandising Operations Assistant Associate plays a key role in supporting Buyers and the broader Merchandising team by ensuring accurate execution of assortment plans, product setup, reporting, and operational processes. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, collaboration, and turning detailed information into actionable insights in a fast-paced retail environment.
This position operates in a hybrid work environment, with the Merchandising team on-site in Manchester, CT 2-3 days per week.

Merchandising Operations & Execution
  • Support Buyers with day-to-day execution of merchandising initiatives to meet sales and margin goals
  • Maintain accurate assortment plans and product data in alignment with established SOPs
  • Coordinate new and revised merchandise setup following buying decisions

Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Compile, organize, and analyze reports to support merchandising decisions, including:
    • New Goods Reports
    • Discontinued Product Reports
    • Market research and trend analysis

  • Create and maintain product articles in accordance with company standards
  • Verify accuracy of product specifications, including dimensions, features, carton proofs, and assembly instructions

  • Manage the end-to-end sample process, including initial, marketing, and visual samples
  • Maintain organized and accurate sample areas
  • Coordinate distribution of swatches and selling support materials to internal teams

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner effectively with merchandising, ecommerce, marketing, visual, and store teams
  • Communicate clearly with external vendors and suppliers via email and meetings
  • Support visual initiatives, store setups, and new product launches as directed

Communication & Content Execution
  • Manage merchandise announcements, including New Item Alerts and launch communications
  • Support execution of in-store and digital marketing assets, including pricing, photography, advertising layouts, and web content

Preferred Competencies & Skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities in a deadline-driven environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team

Minimum Qualifications

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise samples (up to 20 lbs)
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout office and store environments with or without reasonable accommodation

Travel & Schedule
  • Full-time role, minimum 40 hours per week
  • Occasional local or regional travel to Bob's and competitor store locations
