Position Overview
The Fraud amp; Risk Analyst works with BSA amp; Compliance to identify risk and mitigate losses to 802 Credit Union and its membership. This role will monitor fraud amp; AML alerts to identify fraud situations; assist members, co-workers, and law enforcement in response to suspicious activity or instances of fraud to minimize loss and recover lost funds for 802 Credit Union or its membership; analyze loss trends and make recommendations to prevent future losses and works to support member and staff fraud education.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify risk and take appropriate action to collect debt, recover losses and/or prevent further loss to the member(s) and the Credit Union.
  • Conduct monitoring and analysis of various membership accounts and Credit Union reports for risk to include but not limited to: identity theft, account fraud, check fraud, anti-money laundering, IT/technology fraud, insider transactions, debit card transactions, and credit card transactions.
  • Primarily responsible for working with members, co-workers, vendors and law enforcement to answer questions, alert them of suspected transaction or possible fraud activity and resolve issues related to risk and fraud.
  • Maintain and optimize rules and metrics used in Verafin to identify suspicious loan, deposit, and credit or debit card transactions.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly loss reports. Make recommendations for reducing or preventing losses based upon these reports. Keep manager and co-workers informed of fraud trends.
  • To complete all necessary duties as identified and trained to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act including but not limited to completion of CTR and SAR when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Credit Union departments on projects, fraud awareness and member outreach.
  • Assist with planning, preparation for, and participation in, regular internal fraud meetings.

Qualifications:
  • One or more years of experience in fraud mitigation or risk analytics
  • High school diploma required.
  • Knowledge of financial institution risk, fraud, security and internal control best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other similar or related software.
Work Environment
  • Primarily sedentary computer‑based work; ability to lift up to 15 lbs. Some travel to other office locations required.
