Job description

Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis is a leading global communications agency built to navigate the complexities of a hyper-connected world. We represent the icons and innovators shaping culture-from global heritage corporations and high-growth tech startups to the non-profits, creative legends, and visionary founders who define the global discourse.

Our expertise spans the full cultural spectrum. We operate at the intersection of entertainment, social impact, corporate reputation, and consumer lifestyle, executing seamlessly across traditional media, social-first outlets, brand partnerships, and influencer ecosystems. Whether we are navigating complex crisis management, elevating advocacy campaigns, or launching global consumer brands, we are storytellers at our core.

You may notice our digital presence is purposefully understated. While our clients are global household names, we believe the best work happens when the spotlight stays firmly on those we represent. We fly under the radar by design - preferring to let our campaigns, and our results, speak for themselves.

If you're driven, intentional, and ready to do good, we're ready for you!

Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis has an immediate opening for a strategic, high-velocity Account Director in our Atlanta office. We are seeking a modern storyteller who thrives on the generalist mentality-someone who is just as comfortable leading a high-growth tech account as they are a consumer launch, a large-scale event, or a social good campaign. You have been in the industry for at least 8 years and are looking for a challenge that rewards your entrepreneurial spirit and your ability to be a jack-of-all-trades.

This is a role for a go-getter and a doer with an elite blend of EQ and IQ. You possess the natural gravitas to lead communications and marketing strategies for a diverse roster, counseling clients through the full spectrum of their public-facing persona-including brand partnerships, social media ecosystems, and talent integration. You are cool under pressure, deeply curious about every industry you touch, and excited by the opportunity to grow your skills in an environment where no two days are the same.
The Role:
  • Multidisciplinary Narrative Architecture: Lead account teams and manage projects from start to finish across a diverse roster of 4-6 clients. You architect 360-degree communications strategies that are platform-agnostic, ensuring brand stories resonate across traditional media, social platforms, and cultural touchpoints.
  • Modern Storytelling & Integration: Act as the bridge between earned media, social strategy, and talent integration. While you may be a PR specialist by trade, you understand how to navigate digital strategy and creator ecosystems to create surround-sound moments for your clients.
  • Senior Executive Counsel: Build impactful, trusting relationships with clients ranging from corporate startups and media companies to nonprofits and entertainment brands. You provide thoughtful counsel through stressful situations, making the call with confidence and professional poise.
  • Media & Cultural Authority: Leverage an extensive, multi-vertical media network to secure impactful placements and "out-of-the-box" media moments. You are a leader who still loves the thrill of the win-you still pitch alongside your team and lead by example.
  • Event & Experience Execution: Plan and execute media-specific events, from high-profile press conferences to influencer activations. You own the strategy and the ground game, ensuring everything from credentialing to on-site media wrangling is handled with total precision.
  • Business Development & Innovation: Lead new business meetings and craft persuasive, sophisticated proposals. You are an entrepreneurial force, constantly bringing new opportunities, key introductions, and innovative ideas to both your clients and the agency.
  • Mentorship & Team Architecture: Proactively mentor and teach junior staff. This is incredibly important to us-you are a natural coach who is invested in building a high-performing team and a we, not me culture.
  • Relationship Driven: You recognize that our business is built on trust and integrity. You lead by example in every interaction-prioritizing transparency, professional poise, and discretion with your team, your clients, and the media.
Who You Are:
  • The Experienced Generalist: You have at least 8 years of experience in PR and communications, with a proven track record of securing impactful press and developing strategic media plans across multiple industries.
  • A Proven Team Leader: You have managed a team with direct oversight for at least 2 years. You know how to motivate your staff, ensure goals are met, and provide the kind of mentorship that turns junior talent into A-level performers.
  • A Modern Strategist: You understand almost all aspects of integrated communications, including social media, creative, and brand integration. You are an outside-the-box thinker who loves a good brainstorm and isn't afraid to rethink traditional concepts.
  • An Exceptional Storyteller: You are a strong writer-persuasive, concise, creative, and quick. You can take a complex brand mission and translate it into a narrative that compels an editor or an audience to take notice.
  • Entrepreneurial & Agile: You have an innate curiosity and a desire to make things better. If you have a suggestion for an internal process or a client campaign, you have the drive to see it through.
  • Highly Organized & Accountable: You excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously with shifting priorities. You take accountability for your work and take genuine pride in over-delivering for your clients.
Benefits x Perks
We go well beyond the benefits that you're looking for like medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with matching, annual merit-based bonuses, PTO, fertility, FSA for medical, childcare, and commuter expenses. Eligible employees at Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lylis may access these benefits, along with many additional perks including, a flexible work schedule, Work from Anywhere program, Summer Fridays, Wellness Days, and a 4-week sabbatical or trip to celebrate select anniversaries. We love to socialize so, we have collaborative workspaces, some offices even have rooftops, celebrations, networking opportunities, and community volunteering. We frequently mark opportunities to listen, learn and act throughout the year (Juneteenth, Election Day, International Women's Day, etc.).

SSM&L is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and ability. We are an equal opportunity employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sexual orientation, identity and expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

There's more!
From day one, employees are carefully matched with a mentor to guide them on their path to success. Training and mentoring are a big deal here and since we are into promoting from within, we make sure to provide more than enough tools for you to learn and grow. We are proud to offer training throughout the year on topics for professional growth as well as personal growth. We have also developed a series of teaching workshops that are structured for each level of the company. Sunshiners also take love to take advantage of the monthly Meet the Industry series where industry thought leaders provide valuable insider info on how to work with them and their colleagues.
