This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. We need someone who is hands‑on, detail-oriented, and can seamlessly integrate with our team to drive results.

Position Overview

The Accounting Manager / Jr. Controller will oversee core accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance while ensuring robust accounting processes are in place. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and an excellent problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role involves collaboration with various departments and stakeholders, including affiliate partners, auditors, and tax agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounting Processes & Controls: Oversee and improve accounting processes, ensuring strong internal controls, accuracy, and efficiency.

  • Affiliate Payments: Manage and reconcile payments to affiliates, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

  • Audits & Compliance: Prepare and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations and policies.

  • Unemployment Insurance (UI): Oversee UI insurance processes and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.

  • Deferred Revenue Accounting: Manage deferred revenue recognition and compliance with GAAP.

  • Month-End Close & Financial Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and financial statement preparation.

  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee tax filings, coordinate with tax advisors, and ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations.

  • Registered Agents & Entity Management: Manage registered agents, oversee the maintenance and closing of entities as needed, and ensure legal compliance.

  • Accounts Payable (AP) & Processes: Supervise AP functions, streamline processes, and maintain vendor relationships.

  • Credit Card Management: Oversee corporate credit card policies, expense tracking, and reconciliation.

  • Collaboration & Team Integration: Work closely with the accountant and junior financial analyst to support business needs and align with Appex Group’s financial goals.

  • Lender Reporting: Assist with preparation of lender reporting package and calculation of leverage ratios.

  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Lead special projects as required to enhance financial processes, reporting, and system improvements.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial or controller-level role.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

  • Experience with deferred revenue accounting and audits.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms).

  • Experience with tax compliance, registered agents, and entity management.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
