Job description

We are looking for a Jr. Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations for a growing team in Irvine, California. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for an early-career accounting specialist who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with transaction processing, and contributing to month-end activities. The role offers the opportunity to build hands-on experience across both payables and receivables while working in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices, prepare payment activity, and help ensure accounts payable transactions are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Record financial activity through journal entries and maintain organized documentation to support accounting records.
• Reconcile bank statements and investigate variances to keep cash activity aligned with the general ledger.
• Review account balances regularly, identify discrepancies, and resolve reconciliation issues in a timely manner.
• Support accounts receivable tasks by tracking incoming payments, applying cash receipts, and following up on outstanding items as needed.
• Assist with month-end close activities by preparing supporting schedules and verifying the accuracy of posted transactions.
• Maintain financial data with a high level of accuracy while following established accounting procedures and internal controls.• Experience or foundational knowledge in accounts payable and invoice processing.
• Familiarity with bank reconciliations and account reconciliation procedures.
• Understanding of accounts receivable activities, including payment posting and balance tracking.
• Ability to prepare and review accounting entries with strong attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and standard financial recordkeeping practices.
