Job description

Junior Account Manager

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Junior Account Manager to join the McKnight’s long-term care, senior living, and home care-focused media and events sales team. This position is located in our Northbrook, IL or New York, NY office on a hybrid work schedule; three (3) days in office depending on business needs.

Job Overview:

Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a high-energy, creative, and results-driven Junior Business Development Manager to join our flagship McKnight’s healthcare media & events portfolio. In this growth-focused commercial role, you will drive new business revenue for our industry-leading print and digital media channels, custom content solutions, and premium live/virtual event portfolios, including the prestigious McKnight’s Women of Distinction, Pinnacle Awards, and Tech Awards.

This position offers a competitive base salary plus uncapped commission potential, making it ideal for a self-motivated, ambitious sales professional looking to build a lucrative career in B2B media and events. You will focus on driving top-of-funnel lead generation, forging relationships with direct clients and agencies, and expanding our reach into exciting non-endemic growth categories (such as tech, finance, staffing, automotive, and specialized services).

Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Growth: Drive net new revenue through new client acquisition for our print and digital media, custom content offerings, and in-person and virtual events portfolio.
  • Omnichannel Solution Selling: Partner with direct advertisers and agencies to pitch integrated marketing solutions across digital media, custom content, high-value webinars, and flagship award galas.
  • Pipeline & CRM Management: Maintain rigorous CRM (Salesforce) hygiene, tracking activity, managing sales funnels, and contributing to accurate monthly revenue forecasts.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with editorial, custom content, marketing, and events teams to draft compelling proposals and ensure seamless campaign delivery for clients.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1+, ideally with 3+ years of hands-on sales, business development, agency, or lead generation experience (media, events, SaaS, or sponsorship sales preferred)
  • Hunter Mentality: Driven by outbound outreach, cold calling/emailing, LinkedIn networking, and turning cold prospects into long-term commercial partners
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills—able to articulate the value of B2B media audiences to key marketing decision-makers
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to understand client ROI, align client KPIs with McKnight’s custom solutions, and negotiate win-win agreements
  • Organization & Tech Savvy: Comfortable utilizing Salesforce or similar CRMs, sales enablement tools, and managing multiple campaign pipelines simultaneously

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding activity metrics or sales quotas
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a curiosity for emerging market trends and non-endemic business opportunities
  • Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, hybrid work environment
  • Customer centric approach in client communication and support
  • Detail-oriented and accurate, able to manage simultaneous activities effectively
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally—oral, written and visual
  • Set priorities wisely, multitask, and can solve complex problems
  • Ability to develop strategic, proactive relationships with potential sponsors and corporate partners, and other supporters
  • Superb networking, teamwork, negotiation, and interpersonal/diplomatic skills

What We Offer:

  • A competitive compensation package
  • The salary range for this position is $50,000 – $60,000 plus uncapped commission. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, skill level, functional and/or industry knowledge, education level, certifications, as well as other qualifications.
  • Paid annual vacation, holiday and sick time off
  • Comprehensive health plans including medical, dental and vision
  • Competitive 401(k) investment options and generous company matching program
  • Life insurance
  • Commuter benefits
  • Employee referral awards
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Training opportunities through industry-recognized programs
  • A creative and passionate workplace and a fun, collaborative team environment
  • Three Week “Work from Anywhere” benefit, to ensure work life balance
