Job Summary: The Structural Project Engineer will report to an assigned Project Manager in the Structural department. The Structural Project Engineer’s main job responsibilities include providing technical expertise in design, design calculations, drawing preparation, and field reviews on Structural projects. The individual is required to work on multiple assignments with overlapping schedules and needs to be able to multi-task to accomplish all tasks. The Structural Project Engineer will work towards becoming a Senior Project Engineer.

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Structural Project Engineer will have regular contact with clients and design team members and will be representative of RLG’s standards.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities: The Structural Project Engineer's duties and responsibilities will fall under multiple categories including but not limited to: Technical, Communication, Leadership, and Development of Clients. These duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Solve Engineering problems with direction from supervisor
  • Prepare construction documents for supervisor’s review
  • Assist in preparing technical reports and specifications for projects
  • Review submittals based on construction documents
  • Use and understand design software and develop methods to validate results
  • Perform engineering duties such as planning, designing, and overseeing projects
  • Research and analyze data to plan projects
  • Prepare design modules and calculations for various structural elements
  • Prepare documents using BIM software
  • Develop knowledge of building codes and city permitting requirements
  • Develop knowledge of RLG’s clients and design team consultants
  • Coordination of design work with architects and other engineering disciplines
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • Engineer In Training (EIT) Certificate Preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional attendance of technical events and seminars, some travel required
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
