Junior Construction Estimator
Location: Philadelphia (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
The Junior Estimator will support the estimating department by researching material costs, obtaining vendor pricing and lead times, preparing estimate worksheets, and assisting upper management with bid preparation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in commercial construction estimating.
Responsibilities
Review project plans, specifications, and scope of work.
Research construction materials and identify the products required for each project.
Request and compare pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
Obtain current material lead times to ensure project feasibility.
Enter material quantities, pricing, and vendor information into estimating software and spreadsheets.
Assist with preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals.
Meet with senior estimators and management to review estimates before submission.
Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
Track pricing updates and maintain an organized database of quotes.
Assist with value engineering by identifying cost-effective alternatives.
Perform other estimating and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or construction-related education preferred.
1-2 years of construction, estimating, purchasing, or project coordination experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Comfortable reading construction drawings and specifications (or willing to learn).
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Ability to communicate professionally with vendors, subcontractors, and internal staff.
Strong math and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Contractor Foreman, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or other estimating software is a plus.
