Title: Part Time Student - Industrial Engineer - Waterloo, IA - 122029
Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position
Note: Relocation assistance is not provided.
The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company's regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Part Time Student - Industrial Engineer for John Deere Waterloo Works Drivetrain located in Waterloo, IA, you will:
  • Assist in the creation and management of sequence of events documentation including output standards. Output standards are used in baseline data for wage performance pay plans, product costing, and capacity planning.
  • Work with electronic tools to perform engineering functions including methods change tracking and various reports.
  • Develop plans of limited scope to support lean manufacturing.
  • Participate in implementation of new manufacturing processes and technology.

What Skills You Need
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree, ideally in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or any additional technical and relevant degree may apply
  • Ability to work 16-20 hours during the academic year
  • Ability to work 30-40 hours during the summer semester
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. local accredited college/university
  • Graduation date of May 2028 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
  • Must be able to commute to the work location in Waterloo, Iowa, on a daily basis year-round
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software including Outlook and Excel
  • Demonstrated good written and verbal (English) communication skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional groups and a team environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles for process improvements
  • Experience in the heavy equipment industry, Ag industry or farming experience.
