General Construction Laborer

Location: Kahului, HI.

Smith Builders is a residential general contractor based in Kahului, Maui, specializing in luxury custom homes, renovations, and sustainable building. The company is known for its quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

We are seeking General Construction Laborers to support our team on our construction projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, can follow directions, and takes pride in helping a crew stay organized, safe, and productive. You will assist with jobsite setup, material handling, cleanup, and general labor duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist crews with setup, cleanup, loading, unloading, and material handling.
  • Attend daily crew meetings to understand projects/tasks
  • Move tools, supplies, and equipment safely around the jobsite.
  • Assist carpenters and other tradespeople with daily work.
  • Load and unload tools, equipment, and construction materials.
  • Perform digging, lifting, demolition, and other general labor tasks.
  • Keep jobsites clean, organized, and safe.
  • Follow company safety procedures and supervisor instructions.

Qualifications

  • Previous construction or general labor experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely perform physical job duties in attics, crawlspaces, warm environments, and active construction settings.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical work throughout the day.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Dependable, punctual, safety-minded, and willing to work as part of a team.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working around construction tools, equipment, scaffolding, and jobsite materials are a plus.

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-Time, W-2 Employment
  • Pay: $20-$25 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Employer-paid respirator fit test as part of onboarding.
  • Health insurance eligibility in accordance with Hawaii state requirements for eligible employees.
