Job description

Our client, a leading global alternatives firm, has engaged JMD Consultancy to hire hands-on engineers into their core Data Platform team. The team is rebuilding the firm's enterprise data and AI platform from the ground up.

This is a software engineer who builds the data platform, Python + Java, Terraform, Kubernetes, full CI/CD ownership. This is NOT a data engineer who builds pipelines on top of it.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Build and ship production data platform services end-to-end (Python + Java)
  2. Own platform infrastructure: Terraform, Kubernetes (AKS/EKS), full CI/CD lifecycle
  3. Architect backend services and APIs that data engineers and ML teams consume
  4. Own platform reliability, cost, and performance, latency, throughput, infra spend
  5. Contribute to ML / GenAI infrastructure: model deployment frameworks, inference pipelines, context-delivery services

Requirements

  1. Strong production Pythonand Java
  2. Hands-on Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, modern CI/CD
  3. Microservices / API framework experience at meaningful scale (Flask, gRPC, Pub/Sub or similar)
  4. Track record of building services other engineers consume, platform-shaped work, not pipeline-shaped work
  5. 7 years of experience as a Data Engineer, preferably within financial services, fintech, or hedge funds.
  6. Hands-on experience with data modeling, warehousing, and cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, Snowflake, or similar).
