Job description

A Global Jira Administrator with ADO migration expertise is responsible for managing, configuring, and optimizing Jira environments across multiple regions and business units, while also leading the migration of projects, workflows, and issue tracking from Azure DevOps (ADO) to Jira. This role requires strong communication and technical skills in Jira administration, deep knowledge of ADO-to-Jira migration processes, and the ability to align Jira configurations with global business processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Jira Administration & Configuration
  • Administer and maintain Jira Software and Jira Service Management (JSM) environments for multiple teams and business units from scratch, this is green field implementation, Prior experience in building from scratch, using best practices for scale is critical.
  • Design, configure, and maintain complex workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes, and custom fields to support diverse business processes
  • Manage user roles, permissions, groups, and project access in compliance with security policies
  • Create and manage dashboards, gadgets, and reporting tools for stakeholders
  • Integrate Jira with Confluence, Bitbucket, Slack, CI/CD pipelines, and other third-party tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance, configuration, and integration issues
  • Document configurations, best practices, and processes for global teams

ADO Migration Expertise

  • Lead and execute end-to-end migration strategies from Azure DevOps to Jira, ensuring data integrity and minimal disruption for 2โ€“3 teams
  • Perform data mapping, ETL, and cleansing to prepare ADO data for Jira
  • Use tools such as Jira Migration Assistant, Configuration Manager, or custom scripts for migration
  • Align migrated workflows, issue types, and permissions with Jiraโ€™s Agile/Scrum/Kanban frameworks
  • Provide training and support to teams during and after migration to ensure smooth adoption as needed
  • Global Collaboration & Support
  • Work with IT, development, QA, and business operations teams across multiple time zones
  • Partner with ITSM, DevOps, and Security teams to support incident, change, and problem management workflows
  • Ensure compliance with global standards (e.g., SOC2, ISO 27001) in regulated environments
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Jira-related issues and user support

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 8+ years as a Jira Administrator or Jira Consultant, with at least 5+ years in JSM in an enterprise environment

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of Jira Cloud/Data Center, workflows, permission schemes, and project configuration
  • Proficiency in JQL, automation (ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira), and REST APIs
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum/Kanban methodologies and Jira Agile boards
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps, data mapping, ETL, and migration tools

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Atlassian Certified Jira Administrator (ACP-100) or Jira Service Management Certification

Soft Skills:
