Security Officer

We are seeking Security Officers to join our team at JFK Terminal 4, JFKIAT.

Compensation: $21.50 per hour, plus paid health benefits

In this role, you will maintain a safe and secure environment, enforce access control procedures, protect terminal property, and support passenger and employee safety. Officers must remain vigilant, uphold post integrity, and provide professional customer service at all times.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor areas for suspicious activity, theft, or unsafe conditions
  • Conduct routine and random security inspections
  • Respond quickly to alarms and incidents
  • Assist with crowd control and keep pathways clear
  • Report safety, security, or maintenance concerns
  • Maintain professional appearance and communication standards
  • Follow all JFKIAT procedures and SOPs

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in access control and security screening required; airport, terminal, or transportation security experience preferred

  • Possess a FDNYC Certificate of Fitness F-03
  • First Aid, CPR/AED, and Fire Guard certifications (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a professional and customer-focused demeanor
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume, customer-facing environment
  • Strong situational awareness with the ability to remain calm and responsive during emergencies

Physical requirements include:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed to perform assigned duties
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 30 pounds unassisted
  • Must be capable of working in both indoor and outdoor environments, as operational needs require
