WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION This position is located at Juneau International Airport and works outside of the regular working hours. Patrols are to be conducted at night, early mornings, weekends, or on holidays. Typical Responsibilities The Airport Security Technician performs tasks associated with the security and safety of the City & Borough of Juneau's airport.
Positions in this class perform a broad scope of tasks in compliance with standard methods, established rules, and policies. The Airport Security Technician is expected to take or recommend action and correct errors in situations that require interpretation and coordination. Work is performed independently, and a detailed record of patrol and enforcement activities is required.
Unusual, complex or sensitive issues are referred to higher level Airport staff for direction or resolution. Typical responsibilities include the following: Patrols Airport facilities on foot. Patrols may be conducted at night, early mornings, weekends, or on holidays.
Educates airport users regarding rules, regulations, and ordinances. Issues tickets and citations; collects evidence of non-compliance. Requests assistance from law enforcement or other emergency services agencies when appropriate.
Other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School graduation or the equivalent. Experience: 18 years of age at time of appointment.
Desired Qualifications: Three (3) months experience working with the public is desirable. CPR and/or First Aid training is highly desirable. Other: Employment is contingent upon passing a TSA-required security check per 49 CFR 1542 and 1544 and Airport Security Program.
This will require an FBI fingerprint criminal history records check. Continued employment is contingent on ability to maintain a favorable security check.
