An employee in this class supervises, through subordinate trades supervisors, skilled, semi-skilled and full performance trades workers performing a variety of building and grounds maintenance and repair functions. This class is differentiated from lower level supervisory trades classes by the responsibility for supervising at least three separate trades
Work involves planning, assigning, coordinating and reviewing the work of building trades and grounds crews, insuring that work is completed in a timely and acceptable manner, and assigning priorities. The response on this application will be used to determine eligibility for preference for residents. Level of Education Required High School/GED Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience The following statement represents the minimum training and experience standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for tests ANTICIPATED ELIGIBILITY Candidates who meet all eligibility requirements within 3 months of the application deadline will be admitted to this examination. Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list but may not be hired or promoted until all requirements have been satisfied.
1. CIVIL SERVICE STATUS: Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia with permanent Civil Service status and a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher. AND 2.
EDUCATION: Education equivalent to completion of twelfth school grade. AND 3. EXPERIENCE: Five years of experience in the trades commonly used in building maintenance, two years of which shall have been at the group leader level.
OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Personnel Department that has included the specific experience described above. PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid proper class motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of employment as a Building Maintenance Supervisor if required by work assignment.
