Job description

Position Summary
The Engineering Manager Core Infrastructure Services is responsible for delivering core infrastructure and foundational technologies for JetBlue with an emphasis on automation, data driven engineering and cost effectiveness. The Manager provides leadership and guidance to the team to ensure scalable, highly reliable and highly available infrastructure architecture. The Manager also excels when working on complex projects, is motivated to deliver results, and exhibits the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supporting system design, interactions between technology layers and components, functions of infrastructure and dependencies at scale.
  • Develops Teams end to end technical expertise, regularly identifying skill gaps and raising the collective bar on the team's skill set in alignment with industry standards.
  • Supports serviced design efforts within an org to identify, define, recommend and build optimal infrastructure with consideration for cost management.
  • Recommends/builds Infrastructure so as to maintain availability, reliability, efficiency and performance of supported products and services.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Automates cloud infrastructure tasks using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Argo or Flux.
  • Oversees the configuration and management of Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, and networking.
  • Adopts and integrates new cloud native technologies and methodologies.
  • Supports technical roadmaps and strategy, through effective collaboration with architects, engineers and leaders.
  • Guides cross-functional teams though complexities of infrastructure and platform service management.
  • Builds and implements disaster recovery and backup strategies.
  • Performs technical analysis and leads the design architecture of critical infrastructure platform plans for the enterprise, analyzes problems and security requirements of the business and architects' solutions that include highly available and resilient designs.
  • Maintains system compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), Payment Card Industry (PCI), IT General Controls and other regulatory controls as required.
  • Takes a significant role in the development of crewmembers to support their engagement, growth, and goal achievement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous relevant work experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in production operations environment
  • Provide twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) day a week on-call support at scheduled times; and be able to be contacted through a business cell phone or always provide an alternate phone contact
  • Strong knowledge and experience with cloud-native technologies, such as Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, or Helm
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), Git, Jenkins, or Ansible
  • Understanding of IT Best Practices as they relate to the following areas: IT Infrastructure, Change Management, Data Networks, IT Security, Virtualization, Web Servers, Middleware and Storage technologies
  • Available for overnight travel (up to 10%)
  • Able to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
  • Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • Five (5) years of experience in server and datacenter technologies
  • Server and application deployment via automation and configuration management tools
  • Supporting mission critical application environments
  • Managing applications that reside in hosted datacenter environments
  • Supporting applications that run on Linux and or related OS type

  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance
  • When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
  • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
  • Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue's Safety Management System
  • Promote JetBlue's #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue's Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
  • Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue's confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report (SAR))
  • Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
  • Responsible for ensuring crewmembers have requisite training, resources and support to achieve safety objectives The use of ChatGPT or any other automated tool during the interview process will disqualify a candidate from being considered for the position.

Compensation:
  • The base pay range for this position is between $118,800.00 and $177,100.00 per year. Base pay is one component of JetBlue's total compensation package, which may also include performance bonuses, restricted stock units, as well as access to healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan and company match, crewmember stock purchase plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, free space available travel on JetBlue, and more.
