Job description

We are looking for a talented Electrician - Level II to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

  • Driving electrical reliability - Keeping equipment available and capable through skilled electrical maintenance that prevents unplanned downtime.
  • Elevating safety culture - Identifying hazards, stopping unsafe work, and modeling strong HSE behaviors that protect people and the environment.
  • Improving maintenance quality - Applying highstandard workmanship, following diagrams and specifications, and performing precise inspections that reduce rework and failures.
  • Strengthening preventive maintenance - Providing feedback, documenting activities, and executing PM tasks that extend equipment life and reduce longterm costs.
  • Supporting production flow - Scheduling maintenance around operations, removing constraints, and ensuring machines are ready when production needs them.
  • Solving technical problems - Performing rootcause analysis, troubleshooting electrical issues, and implementing corrective actions that improve uptime and performance.
  • Advancing continuous improvement - Participating in TPM and CI initiatives that enhance safety, quality, material flow, and process efficiency.
  • Building strong team communication - Collaborating with technicians, operators, and support teams to share knowledge, coordinate work, and elevate overall team capability.

Additional Information:

  • This is a Hybrid Apprenticeship position, where the candidate must possess a minimum of a 2yr Electrical Focus degree (Mechatronics, Motors & Controls, Robotics, Computer Science, etc.) to apply.
  • The winning candidate will be enrolled into the Cummins JEP NYS approved Skilled Trades Apprenticeship program.
  • They will be required to complete 8,000 hours of on-the-job training with various Skilled Trades, complete specialized training classes, and demonstrate competency in mid-point and end-point assessments in order to graduate and receive a NYS Journeymen's card.
  • Upon graduation they will be placed according to business need. While in the program the position will be on 1st shift, but upon graduation, typically the graduate will be placed on 3rd shift.

  • Automation and control expertise - Apply technology, programming, and system knowledge to improve automation, optimize processes, and support longterm manufacturing efficiency.
  • Machine programming capability - Design and implement machine programs that enhance performance, usability, and reliability on the factory floor.
  • Deep manufacturing understanding - Know how processes, equipment, and applications interact so you can implement changes that improve flow, quality, and productivity.
  • Continuous improvement mindset - Identify inefficiencies, propose improvements, and support initiatives that strengthen safety, quality, and operational performance.
  • Technical communication strength - Clearly communicate findings, changes, risks, and solutions with operators, technicians, engineers, and leadership to keep everyone aligned.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Requires some work experience or intermediate level knowledge obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience
