Mechanic Job Description
Position Title: Mechanic
Department: Fleet Maintenance
Reports To: Fleet Manager
Position Summary
The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the company's fleet of Jeep tour vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and professional operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining vehicle safety, minimizing downtime, and ensuring all vehicles meet company, manufacturer, and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on Jeep, Hummer & Trolley/Bus tour vehicles.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, suspension, steering, brake, and drivetrain issues.
  • Complete oil changes, fluid services, tire repairs, and other scheduled maintenance.
  • Conduct pre-season, post-season, and ongoing fleet inspections.
  • Ensure vehicles are tour-ready and meet company safety standards.
  • Inspect vehicles as they arrive from tours and prioritize repairs based on operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and inspection reports.
  • Assist with fabrication, welding, and custom vehicle modifications as needed.
  • Communicate vehicle status, repair timelines, and maintenance needs to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Properly use and maintain tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with emergency roadside repairs or vehicle recovery when necessary.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous automotive, off-road vehicle, or fleet maintenance experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required,
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems independently.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop machinery.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced tourism environment with changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE certifications.
  • Experience with Jeep Wrangler platforms and off-road vehicles.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Experience maintaining commercial or fleet vehicles.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crawl, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles and shop equipment.
  • Ability to work around loud noises, chemicals, oils, and moving equipment.
