Inside Sales Assistant

We’ve grown nearly 100 years old now, and command a premiere position among Japanese foodservice suppliers, as well as fill a key role as “Culinary Ambassador” promoting Japanese foods worldwide.
Our affiliate, Miyako Oriental Foods Inc. takes pride in making the best possible miso and has operated in its current location in Baldwin Park, California since 1982. Today, Miyako Oriental Foods produces authentic Japanese sauces in addition to miso and brings experience and expertise to chefs and businesses that depend on Japanese food ingredients. Miyako Oriental Foods’ products are widely available throughout North America and shipped to many overseas countries. The company is dedicated to manufacturing the best quality miso, and to helping to enable and promote a healthy global population.

Location: Baldwin Park, CA
Hours: M-F: 8AM – 5PM; 1 hour lunch
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Order Processing Duties:
    • Receiving and processing customer orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Communicate with customers regarding order information, prices, shipping dates, delays, and issues.
    • Communicate and coordinate with our production team for order fulfillment to complete orders.
    • Workorder creation, Invoicing & Follow-ups Management including some customer specific requirements.
    • Additional administrative support as needed
  • Shipment Duties:
    • Shipment Documents Management including verifying shipping documents such as BOLs.
    • As needed, arrange Trucks for pickup & deliveries; get quotations from our designated brokers.

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to type and use the computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to ___ pounds
  • Working Conditions
    1. Noise Level: Normal in office, may be loud in warehouse
    2. Indoors and Outdoor – walking between buildings, offices and warehouse. 

Other Requirements:
  • Basic level English required– read/write/speak/listen
  • Basic level Japanese preferred– read/write/speak/listen
  • Maintains a positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes in assignments and workload
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
