Staff Accountant (Japanese-English Bilingual)
Yamazen Inc. is a leading Japanese trading company specializing in industrial machinery, tools, and equipment distribution across North America. We connect advanced technologies from Japan to U.S. manufacturers, helping them improve productivity and innovation.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a bilingual Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Department. This role supports daily accounting operations, cash flow management, and financial reporting accuracy. The position involves collaboration with our Japan headquarters, U.S. branches, vendors, and customers in both Japanese and English.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • ***Fluency in both English and Japanese (reading, writing and speaking) is required***
  • Process and reconcile A/R and A/P transactions accurately and timely.
  • Prepare customer invoices, vendor payments, and related documentation.
  • Monitor receivables, support collections, and resolve billing or invoice issues.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and reports for management and audits.
  • Coordinate with Japan HQ and internal teams on intercompany transactions.
  • Maintain organized accounting records and support process improvement efforts.

Qualifications:
  • ***Fluency in both English and Japanese (reading, writing and speaking) is required***
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in A/R and A/P.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
  • Strong accuracy, organization, and communication skills.

Preferred:
  • CPA certification or currently pursuing it.
  • Experience in a Japanese corporate environment.

Compensation and Benefits:
The estimated base pay for the position is typically between $60-80k
The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.
In addition to base pay, Yamazen Inc. provides a competitive compensation package including salary and semi-annual bonus opportunities.
