Jailer
Cairo, GA | $16.50/ Hour
We are looking for a Jailer to be responsible for inmates in a jail center. You will advise inmates of their legal rights and assure that they have completed forms on legal representation, search incoming inmates and records personal property taken from inmate, and establish identification by fingerprinting and photographing the inmate.
To be successful in this role, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as computer and phone competency. Prior experience taking and holding an inmate detention course required.
Responsibilities
  • Advise inmates of their legal rights
  • Assure they have completed forms on legal representation
  • Search incoming inmates and record personal property taken from inmate
  • Establish identification by fingerprinting and photographing the inmate
  • Dispense medication prescribed for the inmates, if necessary and at the proper time
  • Check cell doors and internal conditions at regular and irregular intervals to assure security, cell cleanliness, and inmate safety
  • Account for the number of inmates at regular and irregular intervals assuring that all inmates are accounted for
  • Prepare inmates for transportation to court on court days
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver’s License and Clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Clean Background Record
  • Must have completed a course on inmate detention with 6 months of holding the position
  • Prior experience as a jailer preferred
  • Consistent, professional dress, and manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Competency in computers and phones
  • Good time management skills
  • Able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping out with various tasks as required
  • Be able to lift 50lbs+
Location: Cairo, GA
Pay Rate: $16.50/ Hour
Schedule: Rotating Days, 6:00AM – 6:00PM for 3 months then 6:00PM – 6:00AM for 3 months
