What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a J6, and why are they important?

Success as a J6 (Joint Staff Directorate for Command, Control, Communications, and Computers/Cyber) requires deep expertise in information technology, cybersecurity, and military communications, often supported by a relevant degree and security clearance. Familiarity with defense-specific systems like DISA tools, classified networks, and certifications such as CISSP or Security+ are typically necessary.
