Job description

Title: Lead Solutions Architect
Location: Remote / Hybrid (On site-visits to the DMV location as required by contract)

About this position: The Lead Solutions Architect provides technical and management leadership for the Decennial Transformation and Application Modernization (DTAM) initiative supporting the U.S. Census Bureau. This role is responsible for driving application modernization, enterprise architecture, DevSecOps practices, cloud migration strategy, and secure system development and operations. The Lead Solutions Architect ensures alignment of technical execution with mission objectives while guiding teams through modernization, integration, and transformation of large-scale enterprise systems supporting the 2030 Census and American Community Survey (ACS).
*This position is contingent upon contract award.
Salary Range: - $140K - $185K commensurate with the candidate's skills, experience, location, and qualifications.
On a day-to-day basis, you will:
  1. Lead and manage application design, development, modernization, and lifecycle activities
  2. Establish technical goals and execution plans aligned with project and mission objectives
  3. Direct engineering teams, staffing approaches, and technical methodologies to meet delivery requirements
  4. Define and enforce application architecture standards and governance models
  5. Oversee DevSecOps implementation and CI/CD pipeline operations
  6. Ensure application security, compliance, testing, and operational readiness across systems
  7. Plan and execute cloud migration strategies for enterprise applications
  8. Support research, prototyping, and feasibility assessments for modernization initiatives
  9. Interface with clients and senior leadership, including participation in technical discussions and negotiations
  10. Make technical and managerial decisions impacting project execution and delivery outcomes
  11. Supervise and mentor technical staff across multiple workstreams

Required Education/Qualifications:
  • 15+ years of overall professional experience in IT, software engineering, or enterprise architecture
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical and management leadership on major programs or technology initiatives
  • Experience establishing goals, plans, and execution strategies aligned with project objectives
  • Experience directing technical teams with responsibility for staffing, methods, and financial/project execution
  • Experience interfacing with clients and senior leadership, including technical negotiations
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions and apply domain expertise affecting overall system or project implementation
  • Experience supervising technical teams and/or engineering staff

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications:
    • Certified Solutions Architect (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Professional)
    • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
    • DevOps or DevSecOps-related certifications
  • Experience supporting large-scale federal government modernization programs
  • Experience with enterprise-scale cloud migration and transformation initiatives
  • Strong background in Agile/Scaled Agile delivery environments
  • Experience supporting data-centric, high-availability, or mission-critical systems
  • Experience working in DevSecOps-driven environments supporting continuous delivery and automation
