JOB EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Position Purpose / Description

The Teacher is responsible for teaching groups of students in a classroom setting, based on a curriculum and supported by instructional materials. The Teacher is responsible for developing daily lesson plans to ensure that the Teacher covers the curricular content in a timely manner throughout the semester or school year. The Teacher uses various instructional methods and techniques to meet the unique needs of the individual students and to assess their learning; the Teacher modifies instruction, re-teaches and remediates to ensure the students' success.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-aligned instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of students in assigned subject area(s)
  • Assess, monitor, and document student progress through multiple measures, maintaining accurate records and providing timely feedback to students and families
  • Establish and maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, social-emotional development, and academic achievement
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, support staff, and caregivers to support student learning

Additional Duties

  • Supervise students during non-instructional time, including hallway transitions, lunch periods, or assigned duties before and after school
  • Maintain classroom materials and technology
  • Submit required documentation in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned by building administration

  • Deep content knowledge in assigned subject area(s) and understanding of adolescent development and evidence-based instructional practices
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying academic levels, English language learners, students with disabilities, and other diverse learners

  • Proficiency with instructional technology, learning management systems, and data analysis tools to enhance instruction and track student outcomes
