Instructional Student Assistant Pool

POSITION

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF chemistry or biochemistry major students to apply to the Instructional Student Assistant position. Duties for this position may include:

  • Provide classroom, laboratory research, and/or field instructional assistance to a faculty member or student.
  • Assist with laboratory, workshops, or other course activities.
  • Administer student course materials or assignments prepared by the supervising faculty member.
  • Aiding the course coordinator with tasks related to carrying out the CURE. This will include but is not limited to, performing x-ray diffraction measurements.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled student at CSUF in good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Knowledge of the subject matter of the course(s) to which the individual is assigned.
  • Follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a culturally diverse population of students.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working towards a degree in chemistry or biochemistry.

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00
