Position Specific Summary
Communications Student Assistant
The Communications Student Assistant will support the Assistant Program Director in developing and executing strategic marketing and communications initiatives for the Office of Graduate Programs. The position will assist with promoting graduate programs, events, student organizations, and co-curricular programming while helping strengthen student engagement, participation, and sense of community.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing

  • Assist with managing and updating graduate program websites, social media channels, digital signage, and other communication platforms.
  • Draft and develop content for social media posts, newsletters, announcements, event promotions, and other internal and external communications.
  • Create flyers, graphics, brochures, digital assets, QR codes, registration materials, and other promotional materials using tools such as Canva.
  • Support communication campaigns for graduate programs, events, initiatives, and student engagement opportunities.
  • Update event information, promotional assets, and digital content as directed.
  • Assist with photography, event content collection, and the development of event recaps, student spotlights, and engagement highlights.
  • Help monitor and respond to inquiries received through the program's various communication channels.
  • Utilize communication data and analytics to help assess the reach and effectiveness of marketing and engagement efforts.

Event & Program Support
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Program Director to develop and implement communications plans that effectively reach and engage graduate students.
  • Support the promotion, preparation, and execution of graduate programs, events, and co-curricular activities.
  • Assist with documenting and promoting graduate student club activities, student leadership opportunities, and campus programming.
  • Help create and distribute promotional materials before, during, and after events.
  • Provide support for student outreach and engagement initiatives.

Student Organization & Community Support
  • Support communication and marketing efforts for graduate student organizations and activities.
  • Assist with highlighting student involvement, leadership, accomplishments, and campus experiences.
  • Contribute to initiatives that build community, belonging, and engagement among graduate students.

Office & Administrative Support
  • Assist with organizing communication materials, event information, registration resources, and promotional assets.
  • Provide general administrative and communications support to the Office of Graduate Programs as needed.
  • Complete other communications- and program-related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications
This is an entry level position, little to no experience required, all training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
