Job description

MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / COMPETENCIES
As a Sr. Project Manager within STAAR Surgical's Information Technology team, this individual plays a critical role working closely with the business and across the Information Technology organization defining, delivering and supporting IT business solutions and supporting roadmaps. In summary this position: Drives all aspects of IT Project, Program and Portfolio activity, including collaborating and coordinating across all IT and business segments; Defines project value proposition, scope, work plan, resource needs, timeline and budget for IT projects; Manages resources (i.e., capital requirements and human capital, etc.) to complete project/program on time and within budget; Keeps team and leadership updated on project status and risk factors; Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables; and Provides technical and process guidance to project team.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Drives the development and execution of project plan by working with project team to define, sequence, and estimate duration of activities and determine schedules to meet project objectives.
Ensures consistency and adherence to STAAR Surgical standards, processes, and policies for all projects.
Manages all aspects of the project execution including chartering, scope definition, requirements gathering, project planning, change control, risk management and reporting.
Facilitates and manages resource planning, cost estimation, budget development, and cost control.
Manages the identification, resolution and escalation of project risks and issues.
Tracks project budget and resource utilization against plan.
Plans and executes project communications ensuring timely and accurate distribution of information, documentation, and issue resolution to all appropriate team members.
May be responsible for multiple Project Managers dedicated to a common project or fewer large/highly complex customer Projects/Deliverables.
Manages a broad, complex portfolio of projects as well as overall business programs that contain multiple projects that require high levels of functional integration and change management.
Responsible for driving change and continually improving the efficiency of the Project Management department.
Can work in multiple roles throughout the project life cycle including development.
Projects will have large teams and will be globally dispersed, both with IT and business team members.
Projects and Programs will have global impact and have complex business and technical challenges.
Works under direction of IT executives and will keep them informed of project status.
Extensive interaction with internal customers and senior business leadership.
Responsible for mentoring and developing the team members within the Project Management department.
Develops Program Management standards for multiple areas within the department.
Prepare, present, distribute project, program, or portfolio information to all levels of business and Customer management and staff; as well as others both internal and external to the organization; represent the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external resources.
Lead complex, cross-functional enterprise technology and business transformation initiatives.
Drive project delivery through effective scope, schedule, budget, resource, risk, and dependency management.
Build consensus and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels, including executive leadership.
Facilitate governance forums, steering committees, and executive decision-making processes.
Develop business cases, project plans, KPIs, status reporting, and performance metrics.
Manage vendors, contracts, and third-party delivery partners.
Apply Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies as appropriate.
Perform financial management, forecasting, resource planning, and benefits realization tracking.
Utilize project and portfolio management tools including Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow PPM, and Planview.
Leverage Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, SharePoint, Power BI and AI
Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & TRAINING
Undergraduate degree and 10+ years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 8+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Demonstrate strong communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and organizational change management capabilities.
Expert knowledge of project management methodologies, PMO governance frameworks, and project delivery best practices.
Expert knowledge of program and portfolio management including prioritization, resource planning, dependency management, and benefits realization.
Proficient knowledge of enterprise technology environments, including ERP, CRM, HRIS, cloud, SaaS and systems integrations.
Competent knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, identity management, data and analytics platforms and cybersecurity concepts.
Expert knowledge of business process improvement, organizational change management, strategic planning, and executive governance.
Competent knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, procurement, vendor management, and contract administration.
Expert knowledge of project controls, including scope, schedule, risk, issue, quality, and performance management.
Expert knowledge of executive stakeholder management, governance processes, and organizational communication.
Expert knowledge of project and portfolio management tools, including Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, etc.
Excellent facilitation and communication skills.

Pay range: $175K-$223K - Final compensation/salary will depend on experience.
