Big 5 Sporting Goods is a leading retailer of name-brand sporting goods and accessories, with hundreds of stores in 11 states across the Western U.S. We're passionate about delivering value and performance to our customers-and we're looking for an Information Technology Project Manager to help support our mission.
Role Overview
The Information Technology Project Manager plays a leadership role for the company's technology related projects. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of assigned projects, including planning, organizing, and implementing technology projects, coordinating go-live efforts, and managing rollouts.
The Project Manager collaborates with project stakeholders and executes the project workplan to achieve project objectives. They also delegate tasks to assigned project resources and regularly present project progress and outcomes. The position is located at our Big 5 office in Tustin, California.
Key Responsibilities
  • Organize project resources, tasks, budgets, and deliverables
  • Ensure projects are completed within defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints
  • Set project goals and develop comprehensive plans to achieve them
  • Maintain project timeframes, budgeting estimates, and status reports
  • Implement strategies that deliver projects on schedule and within budget
  • Use project management tools to track project performance and schedule adherence
  • Lead project meetings to discuss project progress and milestones
  • Prepare and distribute weekly project status reports
  • Provide project insights to IT senior management
  • Partner with Product Managers to manage stakeholder expectations for project deliverables
  • Work with Product Managers on risk assessment and implement mitigation plan
  • Work with resource managers on resource availability
  • Ensure project team accountability for commitments and remove roadblocks to their work
  • Assign, coordinate, track, and lead the activities of multiple cross-functional teams
  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle
  • Leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work
  • Blend traditional Waterfall project practices with Agile methodology to fit project type and goals

Salary
The annual base salary range for this position is from $115,000-$135,000. The range provided includes the base salary that we expect to pay for the role. Offered base salary will be dependent on factors including the scope and complexity of the role, candidate's related work experience, and subject matter expertise.
