Job description

Nakupuna Consulting is looking for an IT Project Manager to support a DoW Field Activity reporting to OUSW(R&E) at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.

  • Lead the planning and execution of complex IT projects supporting federal government clients, including efforts performed under Information Analysis Center (IAC) and Multi-Award Contract (MAC) vehicles, ensuring alignment with task order requirements and mission objectives
  • Establish clear project goals and develop comprehensive project management plans, incorporating RACI matrices to define roles and responsibilities and Gantt charts to manage schedules, dependencies, and milestones
  • Apply industry-standard project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, and/or Waterfall) and leverage tools such as MS Project, Jira, or similar platforms to track performance, monitor schedule adherence, and report on project status
  • Maintain and manage detailed project timelines, budget estimates, and status reports, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and federal compliance standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, as applicable)
  • Oversee and allocate project resources, including technical personnel and IT assets, to optimize team performance and ensure efficient utilization across all project phases
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and deliverables while fostering collaboration and accountability among stakeholders, team members, and Contracting Officer Representatives (CORs)
  • Implement and manage IT project strategies that support mission objectives and deliver high-quality technical solutions on time and within budget in a federal contracting environment
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks through proactive risk management planning, ensuring minimal impact to project execution and delivery
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, briefings, and stakeholder engagements to communicate goals, progress, risks, and outcomes, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing complex IT projects in support of federal government agencies, with a strong understanding of federal processes, compliance requirements, and contract environments
  • Project management certification required: PMP (Project Management Professional) or CompTIA Project+
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence, or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams delivering systems, infrastructure, or software solutions in a federal setting
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and/or Waterfall
  • Experience with federal frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders, CORs, and cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, mitigate risks, and deliver projects on time and within scope and budget
  • Experience supporting contract execution, including task order management, deliverable tracking, and performance reporting
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail 

Location: Onsite at Ft. Belvoir, Virginia.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of professional related experience in federal government agencies.

Clearance Requirements: This position requires an active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility for SCI. Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Physical Requirements: In addition to the skills and qualifications mentioned above, candidates must, at a minimum, be able to meet the following physical requirements.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use stairs without assistance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $130,000.00 to $170,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
