Job description

The IT Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of Celtic Bank's technology environment. This hands-on leadership position combines technical expertise with team management, with responsibilities split between direct technical work and leading day-to-day IT operations.
The IT Operations Manager oversees enterprise patch management and endpoint compliance through Tanium, manages identity and access operations using Okta, and helps ensure the availability and reliability of critical banking systems. The role also leads a team of systems administrators and engineers, coordinates incident and change management activities, and works closely with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and other technology teams.
As the IT Operations Manager, you will help strengthen operational processes, improve system reliability, and ensure technology practices align with the Bank's security, compliance, and regulatory requirements. This is an ideal opportunity for a technical leader who enjoys staying hands-on while developing a high-performing team and improving how IT operations are delivered across the organization.
Essential Job Functions
  • Oversee day-to-day IT operations, monitoring core banking systems and critical infrastructure for performance and availability and coordinating rapid response and remediation with application and infrastructure owners.
  • Oversee the administration of Tanium platform for patch management, endpoint compliance, and vulnerability remediation, and manage identity and access operations in Okta, including SSO, MFA, and provisioning/deprovisioning.
  • Lead, staff, and develop the operations team, assigning daily priorities and workload, managing capacity and resourcing gaps, and hiring, onboarding, and conducting performance reviews for team members.
  • Own the incident and change management processes for patching, identity, and core banking system changes, including triage, escalation, root cause analysis, approvals, and post-incident review.
  • Track and report operational KPIs, patch compliance, and SLA attainment to IT and business leadership.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and application teams to prioritize and remediate vulnerabilities and operational risks.
  • Develop and maintain operational runbooks, procedures, and documentation covering patching, Okta administration, and core banking system support.
  • Participate in audits, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance activities, and support disaster recovery and business continuity planning for in-scope systems.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in IT operations, systems engineering, or infrastructure support, including experience leading or mentoring team members.
  • Demonstrated experience administering an enterprise endpoint management platform (Tanium, Microsoft Intune/SCCM, BigFix, or comparable) for patch management, endpoint compliance, and vulnerability remediation, including CVE/CVSS prioritization and patch testing. Tanium experience is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience administering Okta or a comparable identity and access management (IAM) platform (SSO, MFA, provisioning/deprovisioning) and operating within an ITSM platform (Jira Service Management, ServiceNow, or comparable) for incident, change, and request management.
  • Experience supporting core banking systems or other mission-critical financial applications, with an understanding of uptime, availability, and change control requirements.
  • Understanding of information security principles, data classification, and regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions (e.g., GLBA, FFIEC, ISO 27001), and familiarity with PowerShell and/or Bash for automation and reporting.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Benefits
  • Medical, dental, vision
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Life and long-term disability coverage
  • HSA and FSA plans
  • Holidays and paid time off requests
  • Robust wellness program (we're talking catered meals three times a week, lunch and learns, and onsite gym!)
