The IT Network Engineer will join our IT Team located in Pittsburgh, PA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructures within a manufacturing/OT environment. This role requires a proactive individual who can optimize network performance, ensure security, and lead technical projects to support our business objectives.
The IT Network Engineer's core responsibility is infrastructure for all related data, network, and systems within EOS Energy's information technology and operational technology site. The secondary responsibility will be the monitoring, management, and support of all servers and network that is in the Eos network framework ensuring proper methods and guidelines are followed to protect material handling systems and all internal data for EOS Energy.
Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure projects, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability. This includes both IT and OT facing environments
  • Monitor and optimize network performance, identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
  • Configure and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Will include other devices like handhelds or other devices that may require access to the network.
  • Responsible for the review of security policies, plans, and procedures; assessing network monitoring capabilities; analyzing system logs, security events, and packet captures to identify security threats; and providing recommendations to comply with applicable cybersecurity framework.
  • Implement and enforce network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Perform vulnerability and risk assessments within manufacturing and critical infrastructure environments to identify security risks and threats (e.g., unsecure remote access points, suspicious remote connections, unauthorized devices on the network, etc.) and providing recommendation to remediate the identified issues
  • Maintain detailed diagrams and documents of the manufacturing industrial infrastructure, general network, cabling, rack level, and logical architecture including procedures and plans to support current and future projects.
  • Maintain disaster recovery plan for the IT and OT network environments including preventive steps to minimized downtime and support business continuity.
  • Coordinate with all applicable groups and other resources including vendors to determine project requirements.
  • Oversee the monitoring, maintenance including patch management of all applicable systems, appliances and devices within the IT and OT infrastructure. This includes the staging, readiness, and deployment of required installs.
  • The point of contact for all potential network issues from outage, latency, network degradation in general, assists in the implementation of security policies and procedures, user log-on and authentication rules, and prepares status reports on network security matters to aid in the development of security risk analyses and incident response procedures
  • Travel to different site as required.
  • Must be available for on-call and provide technical support for network related issues.
  • Support managed service providers for either IT or OT facing assets and provide escalation points as needed
  • Required to travel to other remote sites as needed
  • Required for after hours and weekend work
  • Participate in training and development of other team members
  • Lifting heavy equipment as needed and at times assisted
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • 5+ years' experience in IT network type role with intermediate experience in systems and networking methodologies (TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP)
  • Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of OT environments and supporting air-gapped networks
  • Proficient in wireless and cloud networking including virtualization (AWS, VMWare, Azure)
  • Must have 2+ year in Next Gen firewall administration and design for Cisco and Palo Alto equipment
  • Strong knowledge in B2B/IPSEC WAN environments
  • Advance level scripting and automation are a plus
  • Understanding of cybersecurity framework (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001) is required
  • Experience in data management
  • Knowledge of industrial controls systems (PLCs, SCADA)
  • Knowledge of data design principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Certifications a plus (e.g. CCNP, CISSP, AWS Architect, CCNA, etc.)
  • Adaptable to new technologies and changing requirements
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience.
Travel
  • Overnight/North America: 10-25%

  • Factory - The worker may be subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, vibration, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to temperature changes or exposure to chemicals. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, odors, dust, mists, and gases. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and lab coats.
