General Description:

We are seeking an IT Business Analyst to join our team. The IT Business Analyst is a key facilitator between the business stakeholders and delivery teams to support the identification, definition and delivery of initiatives across the firm, ensuring business problems and opportunities are clearly understood before solutions are developed.

As a member of the IT Portfolio Governance team, the Analyst collaborates with stakeholders to understand business challenges and opportunities, analyze current processes, and define clear requirements and recommendations for improvement.

The IT Business Analyst plays a vital role in shaping initiatives prior to delivery by gathering and analyzing requirements, mapping business processes, and supporting the development of solutions that align with portfolio priorities and organizational strategy.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the firm to gather, document and analyze business and functional requirements to support initiative definition, solution design, and process improvement and automation.
  • Work with stakeholders to clarify and define business problems and opportunities, ensuring initiatives address root causes and deliver measurable value including identifying opportunities for automation where applicable.
  • Evaluate current business processes and workflows to identify opportunities for optimization, efficiency improvements, automation and enhance service delivery.
  • Conduct feasibility reviews and analysis, including cost-benefit analysis, to support decision-making and prioritization of initiatives.
  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops, interviews and working sessions to understand business needs and translate them into clearly defined requirements.
  • Develop and maintain process maps, business requirements documentation and supporting analysis to ensure initiatives are well understood prior to delivery, including maintaining full traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the development of initiative proposals and business cases by providing structured analysis and documentation.
  • Work with project managers, technical teams and business stakeholders to define initiative scope, objectives, risks, deliverables and resource considerations.
  • Conduct system and data analysis to support the evaluation of technology solutions that leverage AI and meet business and stakeholder needs.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to all levels of stakeholders throughout the organization to support effective decision making and alignment with portfolio priorities.
  • Support usability testing, pilot cycles, user acceptance testing and validation activities to ensure designed solutions meet agreed business requirements.
  • Produce clear documentation, analysis and status reports for review and digestion by all levels of stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Conduct impact analysis to assess up and downstream effects of new processes, technology or automation and ensure stakeholder readiness.
  • Stay informed of emerging technologies, tools and industry best practices that may support business improvement initiatives.
  • Expected to maintain a regular and predictable work schedule and full attention to and engagement in work activities on behalf of the firm during business hours unless otherwise approved or required by applicable law.
  • Special projects and duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Microsoft Office Suite, or Microsoft 365.
  • Strong experience in requirements gathering, documentation and validation.
  • Demonstrated skills in current and future state process analysis and mapping with understanding of process interdependence and cross team handoffs.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Ability to present difficult concepts with clarity and confidence.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills that enable you to hear a problem and identify unspoken or nuanced issues.
  • Ability to engage with and influence senior stakeholders to clarify business problems and shape effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Excellent documentation, presentation and business process mapping/ modeling skills.

Required Qualifications & Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business, Project Management or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in business analysis, business operation, project management or related field.

Preferred Qualifications & Education:

  • Experience working on large-scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business.
  • BPM Methodology, i.e., Lean Six Sigma, Rummler Brache, or other similar methodologies.
  • Understanding project management methodologies and software development lifecycle
  • Experience supporting initiative definition, business case development, or early-stage project scoping.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with ServiceNow
  • Understanding of the legal industry

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage.
