Job Summary
The Business Services Applications Director helps to shape and oversees the execution of Vistra Business Services' technology strategy, provides governance and operational support, manages the development of custom solutions and modifications needed to meet business requirements, and coordinates across Vistra's vendor relationships.
Vistra Business Services is comprised of Legal, Human Resources, Finance & Accounting, Supply Chain, Treasury, Tax, and other support organizations, all of whom have both common and organization-specific technology requirements. In addition, BU-specific legal and finance technologies often require common support and strategies.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Support Vistra VP of IT Applications and Vistra Business Services executives and management via leadership on key strategic and operational issues related to application development and maintenance.
Create and direct computing and information technology strategic plans, policies, programs and schedules for business and finance data processing, and management information services. Provide enterprise-level leadership across the multiple Vistra Business Services' organizations.
Interface with operating unit level commercial, planning, accounting, risk, and other functions to support cross-BU technology initiatives as well as improving daily operational alignment.
Facilitate robust and open discussions across Business Services, including steering committee meetings, regarding technology related topics on a recurring basis. Provide periodic executive communication and reporting.
Lead thinking and structuring around technology related decisions such as Vistra's migration to new accounting, financial planning, and reporting software, supply chain system improvements, HR system support stabilization, and the incorporation of multiple outsource providers.
Management & Delivery:
Manage staff and processes to ensure technology initiatives sponsored by Business Services are optimally handled through completion, including measuring value of these initiatives. Facilitate the prioritization and business case development of initiatives.
Governance:
Provide governance on technology issues enabling effective vendor management. Overseeing governance, contractual discussions, and day-to-day management of outsourced IT service contracts and related subcontracts (e.g., such as Capgemini) including invoice reviews, staffing level measurement and optimization, and functional performance reviews
Coordinate with Governance and Security teams to ensure the security and compliance of the information systems and underlying data.
Perform budget reporting and forward planning including project expenditure reconciliation on both a monthly and annual basis to enhance economic decision-making and mitigate risk.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements
Experienced gained through college programs and/or certification in technology, computer science, engineering, business, or other related technical field
8-10+ years of progressive experience or any other equivalent experience and training which provides a commensurate level of knowledge, skills, and abilities
Strong executive presentation, communication, and negotiation skills
Proficiency and "hands on" experience in financial planning and reporting, supply chain management, project management
Proven strong people skills as well as strong conflict resolution skills
Possesses external contacts within software industry
Hands on experience in the development of financial tools
Advanced technical and quantitative skills
Knowledge and experience in working in functional as well as matrix organizations
