Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a dependable and firm, yet supportive, In-School Suspension (ISS) Aide to supervise students assigned to ISS at Travis Intermediate School. This position ensures students complete assigned coursework in a structured, orderly environment while reinforcing campus expectations and promoting positive behavior.
Primary Purpose
Supervise and monitor students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS), maintain a structured and safe learning environment, and support student accountability in alignment with district and campus discipline procedures.
Qualifications
Education / Certification:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to obtain a Texas Educational Aide Certificate (certification may be obtained through the District)
  • Completion of the ParaSkills Course through STEDI.org (course will be purchased by the District)

Special Knowledge / Skills:
  • Strong classroom management and supervision skills
  • Ability to work with intermediate-aged students in a structured setting
  • Clear communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to remain calm and consistent when addressing student behavior
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Experience:
  • Experience working with students in an educational setting preferred
  • Experience with behavior management strategies preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Student Supervision & Behavior Support
  • Supervise students assigned to ISS in a structured and orderly environment
  • Enforce campus rules, expectations, and ISS procedures consistently
  • Monitor student behavior and ensure a distraction-free learning space
  • Report behavioral concerns or incidents to administration promptly

Academic Monitoring
  • Ensure students complete assigned coursework during ISS placement
  • Communicate with teachers to obtain and return student assignments
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and work completion

Campus Collaboration
  • Work closely with administrators, counselors, and teachers
  • Support restorative practices and behavior improvement efforts
  • Assist with supervision duties as assigned

Professional Responsibilities
  • Participate in required staff development and campus meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student discipline matters
  • Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration

Working Conditions
