SALARY: $17.75/hour (CBA Agreement-See Article 11)

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Educator Licensure - Paraprofessional
Requirements for Paraprofessional License (renewed every five (5) years:
  • At least 19 years of age to serve students in prekindergarten through grade 12.
  • Beginning January 1, 2023, you may qualify for the ELS-Paraprofessional license by meeting the requirements outlined below at age 18 but only may serve in prekindergarten through grade 8.
  • One of the following required:
    • Associate's degree or higher
    • 60 semester hours of coursework
    • High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Parapro
    • High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Workkeys:
      • Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4)
      • Reading for information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4)

Short-Term Approval Requirements (valid for three (3) years):
  • High School diploma (or equivalent) or higher
  • While working on an approval, educator must be fulfilling requirements for the full license
  • Applications are available until June 30, 2026 and may not be renewed

Job Description
Position: In-School Suspension Monitor
Reports to: Building Principal
Qualifications:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Ability to control the actions of problematic students
  3. Ability to handle confrontation
  4. Fluency in Spanish is preferable, but not mandatory

Terms of Employment: School Term; Hourly Employment
Basic Function: To monitor students who have received an Alternative to Suspension as discipline for violations of school rules.
Performance Responsibility:
  1. Monitor students who have been placed inAlternative to Suspension (ATS)
  2. Keep daily records of students in ATS and assist with SWISS data reports as part of PBIS
  3. Monitor lunch detentions of students who cannot serve after school detentions
  4. Escort students who are in ATS to and from the cafeteria and to and from buses
  5. Distribute homework to teacher's mailboxes from students who were in ATSS
  6. Monitor hallways
  7. Assist with non-related job duties in emergency situations
  8. Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information concerning students, families, and staff that is required of certified staff
  9. If fluent in another language, additional duties such as:
    1. Communicate with parents by phone or in person who speak that language
    2. Translation at meetings such as IEP meetings and team meetings with parents, and student disciplinary meetings
    3. Tutor students who are having difficulties understanding class assignments due to low English speaking abilities
    4. Translate letters and other basic documents.
  10. Perform other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time.
