Position Summary:
To provide appropriate instructional assistance and support for students, based on lessons developed and provided by the classroom teacher.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Observe, monitor and assist students in the classroom, according to approved procedures
  • Assist with classroom behavioral management to minimize disruptions
  • Ensure a safe and orderly classroom, and ensure students are on task
  • Supervise students in classroom, and consistently administer rules regarding student behavior
  • Assist students in completing classroom assignments, homework, and projects
  • Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures
  • Assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude, and general guidance
  • Confer with teacher concerning lesson plans and materials to meet student needs
  • Keep accurate records of student attendance and behavior, including any tardiness, and submit to the administration in a timely manner
  • Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and following of Individualized Education Plans for selected students assigned to the class
  • Support and implement high standards and expectations for all students
  • Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning, while implementing assigned lessons and programs
  • Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials and skills, according to individual student needs
  • Assist with record-keeping procedures to document student learning and performance
  • Construct, copy, distribute, and use educational materials as needed
  • Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper manner of assistance for all students
  • Adhere to all policies of the district
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the building administrator and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Salary: Classified Paraprofessional Salary Schedule - Level II
