THE POSITION
We are actively seeking a Manager, Scientific Initiatives.
The Scientific Initiatives department is integral to ISPOR's mission. The team supports many of ISPOR's member groups, such as ISPOR's special interest groups (SIGs), councils, and roundtables. These groups develop high quality HEOR projects, scientific publications, webinars, and presentations. The department also advises on scientific and health policy content for ISPOR conferences, initiatives, marketing, and related activities. The Manager, Scientific Initiatives is responsible for working with designated member groups as a project manager.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As the Manager, Scientific Initiatives you will be the staff liaison for:
  • Special Interest Groups (SIG)

Manages several ISPOR Special Interest Groups, groups of 100 or more ISPOR members who share a common interest within a topic area to advance HEOR and the use of this research in healthcare decisions. This includes holding regular teleconferences, preparing meeting agendas and discussion summaries, sending email updates to members of the special interest groups, convening group meetings at ISPOR annual conferences, assisting in the recommendation and development of key projects and literature reviews, conference presentations, and publications. The Manager also maintains the Special Interest Group membership database and webpage.
  • Assigned Task Forces, Councils, Roundtables and Working Groups

Supports preparation of meeting agendas and summaries and assists with executing the events. Manages Council, Roundtable, and Working Group projects, e.g. identifies high-level attendees, coordinates virtual and/or in-person meetings, schedules teleconferences, and ensures project(s) adheres to timelines and meets deadlines. Manage pipeline of anticipated task forces and working group reports.
  • Communities of Interest and Special Interest Group Online Communities

Maintain active communication, fostering and moderating discussions, responding to members, and implementing strategies to enhance participation on ISPOR's online interactive platform. Manage post trackers including responding to discussion threads, adding resources to the online libraries, and working with the respective online Community Engagers to create content for the discussion thread. Track engagement metrics and report on online community growth and activities.
  • ISPOR Initiatives

Scans daily healthcare news to gain knowledge on scientific developments related to work assignments and the practice of HEOR. Manages, in collaboration with other staff, the promotion of scientific content and initiatives. Works collaboratively across ISPOR departments to implement and improve the organization's strategic plans including science and content strategies. Completes other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree in science, health economics, pharmacy or other health care-related or health services research-related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, research, healthcare or related field; Master's training can count towards this experience
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, results orientation
  • Strategic and operational approach, strong project management, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Highly motivated, proactive and problem solver
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong ability to effectively communicate both within and outside the organization to drive execution and foster innovation
  • Advanced note-taking skills and ability to write clear summaries or reports
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new technology platforms.

WHAT WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE
  • Master's degree in science, economics, pharmacy or other health care-related or health services research-related field.
  • Knowledge of HEOR and/or healthcare policy.
  • Exposure and/or training on how to write and/or review scientific publications preferred. Experience conducting scientific literature searches
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Public speaking ability and good presentation skills.

OUR LOCATION
Nestled half-way between Philadelphia and New York City, ISPOR's headquarters is in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Our staff works in the office in a hybrid arrangement (onsite two days per week). Remote arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
