Job description

Busy Queens and Long Island workersโ€™ compensation firm is seeking a newly admitted attorney who is eager to be trained. This position is in person. Spanish speaking a PLUS but not required.
Responsibilites:
  • Take depositions of claimants, physicians, medical experts, and other parties
  • Perform legal research and stay current with developments in workersโ€™ compensation law
  • Draft appeals, rebuttals, summations, and memoranda of law
  • Litigate cases before Workersโ€™ Compensation Judges
  • Prepare clients for hearings, depositions, and trials
  • Represent claimants at hearings, trials, and depositions
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of claimants
  • Provide strategic legal direction on all assigned matters
  • Work with support staff to ensure cases are progressing efficiently
  • Assist injured workers in obtaining appropriate medical care and benefits
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and research abilities
  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research platforms (Lexis, Westlaw)
