Job description

 The Iowa River Landing Clinic is seeking a 100% Nurse Manager. This role provides managerial and clinical leadership to assure that all staff provide safe and clinical care and have the education, methods, and resources to accomplish their performance objectives.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide managerial and clinical leadership for patient care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary participation in the identification and resolution processes for clinical issues and situations.
  • Educate and mentor staff in the management of complex patient care
  • Monitor clinic patient volumes and ongoing changes in patient needs, acuity, and complexity.
  • Formulate, review, and revise policy and other standards of professional practice essential for optimum delivery of patient care; assure compliance with established standards of care.
  • Actively seek the participation from staff on decision-making and customer service improvement activities; provides staff incentives and rewards for contributions toward achievement of service excellence.
  • Identify inefficiencies in current practice/processes, demonstrate tolerance for change and develops a means to enhance the process.
  • Build and sustain relationships, resolve conflict, and develop collaborative working relationships.
  • Monitor operating budget, analyze variance, and create a corrective action for expense reduction as needed.
  • Manage the talents, strength, and behavior of each individual employee under their direct supervision and in a varied work group; provide each employee with the opportunity to contribute to the goals of the unit.
  • Make effective and timely recommendations in matters of hiring, promotion, transfer, and disciplinary action(s).  Make appropriate hiring decisions.
  • Assure performance expectations are clearly understood; hold staff accountable to meet or exceed patient needs/expectations, as well as maintain standards of collaboration and respect within and among multidisciplinary teams.
  • Review attendance data, recognize trends, and take appropriate follow-up with staff.
  • Work in direct patient care, as needed, to ensure patient safety standards are met and maintained
  • Other duties as assigned.

Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: 40 hours/week will be accomplished between the times of 7:30am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday; late coverage and rotating weekends.
Location: Iowa River Landing Clinic

Education and Certification Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Nursing or related field is required.  If Master's degree in a related field, Baccalaureate in Nursing is required.
  • Must obtain an advanced degree in nursing, health care administration, or business administration within (5) years of beginning this position.
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa

Experience Requirements

  • Considerable (3-5 years) experience in leadership/management roles
  • Experience with unit operations including human resources, financial management, quality and regulatory standards
  • Experience in clinical practice required: minimum (3-5 years) multispecialty outpatient clinical setting
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be proficient in computer software applications
  • Certification in a role or specialty through a nationally recognized professional nursing certification body.  If not currently certified, must seek certification in a role or specialty as soon as eligible to sit for an exam.

  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment

Desirable Qualifications

  • Considerable experience in leadership/management of multispecialty outpatient clinical setting
