Job description

UDR, Inc. is now hiring a Manager - IoT Security to join our team.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:  Serve as the Manager for the IoT (Internet of Things) Security Team, responsible for the execution of projects including the management of all tasks associated with access control, smart home, CCTV, and other building and property technology. This role will lead and direct both human and technical resources to include but is not limited to the coordination of the activities required of the technical staff, vendors, and end users in support of security project objectives.   This role is responsible for complying with Information Security department policies and standards, providing a high quality of service, and ensuring project delivery goals are met while staying on schedule and within budget. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director - Network Infrastructure/IoT Security

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: IoT Security Analyst, and Property Technology Construction Specialist

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   

Security Management

1. Assist our business locations in making physical security decisions with reference to our policies and procedures.

2. Work with Law Enforcement where applicable with the collection of forensic information such as camera footage.

3. Design solutions that conform to security best practices, including both physical solutions and the tools used to execute the program.

4. Work closely with our Information Security department to continue to iterate our program and improve our standards.

Vendor Management

1. Establish and maintain strong relationships with multiple vendors across various markets, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and objectives.

2. Act as the primary point of contact for vendors, fostering open communication to maintain clarity on project timelines, deliverables, and service-level agreements (SLAs).

3. Hold vendors accountable for quality, performance, and meeting deadlines by regularly reviewing progress and providing constructive feedback.

4. Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, ensuring they are in the best interest of the company, with scrutiny of pricing to avoid overcharges or unnecessary costs.

5. Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to ensure that all vendor-related projects are executed on time and within budget.

Team Management

1. Hire and train new staff and develop staff to maximize potential.

2. Supervise direct reporting staff in accordance with overall company policy.

3. Monitor staff performance including performance reviews and address performance problems through corrective action and dismissal.

4. Approve time records and requests for time off.

5. Assist direct reporting staff to address and resolve concerns or complaints involving job duties and job descriptions, performance standards, relations with coworkers, relations with supervisors and managers.

6. Lead, develop, and motivate the team in accordance with agreed policies and practices to ensure an effective workplace capable of meeting its objectives. 

7. Contribute proactively to the development of the IS department’s goals, and to demonstrate leadership within the department as expected of a manager, including managing the people and financial resources of the IoT team in accordance with company standards.

8. Identify emerging issues ensuring they are documented and addressed with preventive solutions to maintain the company’s safety and security.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

1. Bachelor’s degree in information systems management, Business Administration, Technology Management; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 

2. Minimum three to five years’ experience in IoT, physical security, networking, or a related technology field.  

3. Prior supervisory and/or team lead experience preferred but not required.  

4. Demonstrated ability to take initiative, lead others informally, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• $115,000.00/yr. – $125,000.00/yr., depends on experience
