Description
Verus Mortgage Capital is seeking experienced sales professionals to develop and manage relationships with banks, credit unions, and financial institutions within assigned regional territories.  This role sits within the Wholesale Sales organization and focuses on creating strategic referral and origination partnerships with depository institutions seeking lending solutions for borrowers who fall outside of traditional agency or portfolio guidelines.
 
The Strategic Accounts Executive will position Verus’ non-Agency and Jumbo wholesale lending solutions as an outlet for underserved borrower scenarios while Verus remains the originating lender. This role combines relationship management, business development, and consultative sales within the institutional lending space.
 
Success in this role requires a strong ability to build relationships, develop new business opportunities, educate partners on Verus’ lending solutions, and drive consistent loan production growth within the assigned territory.
 This position offers a base salary of $72,500. plus commission. 

Responsibilities and Duties:
Institutional Relationship Development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with banks, credit unions, and financial institutions within assigned territory.
  • Position Verus as a trusted wholesale lending partner for non-Agency and Jumbo loan solutions.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders including retail lending leaders, mortgage departments, loan officers, and secondary marketing contacts.
  • Navigate institutional onboarding, approval, and partnership processes as needed.
Business Development & Territory Growth
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to establish new institutional referral and wholesale origination relationships.
  • Proactively source new business opportunities through networking, market analysis, industry events, and direct outreach.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective institutional partners.
  • Drive production growth and market penetration within assigned territory.
Partner Education & Sales Support
  • Educate institutional partners on Verus’ products, underwriting philosophy, and dedicated support resources available to assist throughout the loan process
  • Promote Verus' operational strengths, responsiveness, and partner support model to build confidence and long-term relationships
  • Serve as a primary relationship contact for institutional partners and ensure a high level of responsiveness and service.
Transaction Facilitation & Collaboration
  • Collaborate closely with underwriting, operations, account management, and internal sales teams to ensure smooth loan execution.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure institutional relationships are supported effectively throughout the lending process 
  • Ensure strong communication and coordination throughout the relationship lifecycle. 
Market Intelligence & Strategy
  • Stay informed on mortgage industry trends, non-Agency lending developments, and competitive market activity.
  • Provide market feedback and partner insights to leadership and internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen Verus’ presence within the banking and credit union market segments.
Industry Representation
  • Represent Verus at industry conferences, trade associations, and networking events.
  • Strengthen Verus’ brand awareness and relationships within the institutional lending community.

Education and Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in mortgage banking, wholesale lending, business development, or institutional sales.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of non-Agency, Jumbo, and wholesale mortgage lending.
  • Existing relationships within banks, credit unions, or financial institutions strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing new business and growing production volume.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a production-driven sales environment.
  • Strong organizational and relationship management abilities.
  • Knowledge of mortgage industry regulations and compliance standards.
