Job description

General Responsibilities

GSG Wealth Management is a comprehensive financial planning firm seeking a professional and detail-oriented Investment Operations Associate. In this role, the professional will carry out operations and servicing for investment accounts for clients of GSG Wealth Management. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting clients' financial goals through efficient investment operations and financial planning support. As a member of the 17-person GSG team, this associate will help maintain an efficient, effective, and highly organized office environment. Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Investment Operations

  • Communicate effectively with advisors and clients
  • Initiate purchase and sale of securities that align with clients’ goals
  • Process fund/NMIS transfers, exchanges, and redemption requests
  • Understand, open accounts for, and initiate changes to sophisticated investment strategies (MAMs, SMAs, alternative investment solutions)
  • Thoroughly review NMIS forms for completeness and proactively attain any missing informationProcess service requests including funds disbursements, account transfers, and journaling between accounts
  • File new statements, account forms and other investment-related materials
  • Complete initial data input for investment account analysis
  • Utilize financial software to track investments, generate reports, and analyze data effectively
  • Act as liaison between Financial Advisor and third-party investment firms to troubleshoot business, client, and access needs
  • Assist in receiving and forwarding checks and related paperwork to the network and home office
  • Work with network office, NMIS, and fund families to resolve client account issues
  • Analyze client investment holdings and opportunities and provide potential solutions to Financial Advisor

 

Client Service

  • Deliver excellent service to clients, ensuring questions are answered quickly and accurately 
  • Process account maintenance requests
  • Contact clients to confirm receipt of forms and request return of outstanding documents
  • Prepare/print letters of instruction for client signature
  • Participate, with the support of employing financial advisor, in various activities of the sales cycle
  • Maintain efficient systems for account follow-up and service requirements

Team Responsibilities

  • Understand and support the firm’s vision, mission and strategy
  • Collaborate with team members on complex investment cases
  • Continually improve processes and procedures to best serve clients
  • Complete strategic initiatives and projects as assigned by GSG Partners and/or Practice Manager

Qualifications

  • Required: Attainment of Series 7 & 63 within 6 months of employment (material & testing covered by GSG)
  • Preferred: Experience in securities industry and/or administrative support/customer service

                       Bachelor’s degree

  • Proficiency in financial software applications for data analysis and reporting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in handling detailed work
  • Proactivity in problem solving
  • Curiosity, pattern recognition, and ability to perform simple analysis of financial holdings
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to collaborate effectively with others
  • Strong math and data entry skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to change and identify opportunities for process improvements
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
