  • Investigate claim facts and issues
  • Determine coverage under title insurance policies
  • Evaluate losses and assess defenses for insureds and/or the company
  • Determine whether outside counsel is needed
  • Develop and execute claim resolution plans
  • Manage claims and litigation through final resolution
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, opposing counsel, and third parties
  • Appear as company representative in court proceedings, mediations, and settlement conferences
  • Manage claim budgets and review and approve outside counsel invoices and expenses
  • Determine settlement and expense reserves
  • Direct outside counsel on litigation strategy
  • Identify and pursue recovery sources
Requirements
  • Law Degree required
  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in any state of the United States
  • 2+ years of experience with emphasis in litigation or claims handling
  • Real Estate experience preferred
  • Experience handling claims and insurance coverage preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and implement resolution strategies to fully conclude a claim
  • Ability to work independently and exhibit originality and ingenuity
  • Must be able to manage complex legal analysis, negotiations, claims, and litigation
