Key Responsibilities- Lead independent workplace, ethics, compliance, and governance investigations
- Conduct investigations involving executive misconduct, personnel matters, and organizational culture
- Interview complainants, witnesses, executives, and key stakeholders
- Gather, analyze, and evaluate documentary and testimonial evidence
- Prepare comprehensive investigative findings, reports, and recommendations
- Advise public agencies, municipalities, educational institutions, and private employers
- Counsel clients on employment law, compliance, ethics, and governance issues
- Manage investigations from intake through final reporting
- Develop litigationโavoidance and riskโmitigation strategies
- Maintain and expand an established client portfolio
- Collaborate with firm leadership on business development initiatives
- Mentor junior attorneys and support practice development
Qualifications- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar membership in good standing
- Significant experience conducting complex workplace and compliance investigations
- Demonstrated success independently managing investigations from intake through final reporting
- Established portable investigations practice with approximately $300,000+ in portable annual revenue
- Outstanding interviewing and witnessโexamination skills
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and investigative abilities
- Strong clientโrelationship management and businessโdevelopment experience
- Sound judgment and discretion handling highly confidential matters
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative leadership approach
Preferred:
- Title IX investigation experience
- Background representing public agencies or educational institutions
- Executive misconduct investigation experience
- Ethics, compliance, or governance advisory experience
- Organizational culture assessment experience
- Experience counseling executive leadership teams and governing boards
- Established reputation within California's investigations community
