JOB SUMMARY
This position controls and monitors freight and inventory levels using the most cost-effective methods.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide for monitoring and inspection of produce at the dock to ensure quality standards are met and quantity is correct.

  • Responsible for all receiving and inventory adjustments to assure correctness and entry into the mainframe.

  • Accountable for daily physical cycle counts on frozen, cooler, and dry products.

  • Liable for the slotting and assigning of all new items in the warehouse, assuring the correctness of the information in the mainframe and that warehouse slots are labeled correctly.

  • Keep warehouse manager informed, as needed, of potential problems and changes.

  • Responsible for notifying customer service of potential outs.

  • Complete inventory and warehouse report daily.

  • Manage and direct all physical inventories as called for under SYGMA guidelines and directives.

  • Works closely with all departments regarding merchandise received, new items, all inventories, to assure a continuous flow of information.

  • Adhere to cycle count program.

  • Adhere to hazardanalysisandcriticalcontrolpoint (HACCP) and material safety data sheet (MSDS) guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • High school diploma/GED.

  • Prefer 4-year college degree in a related discipline.

Experience

  • 3 years of inventory control experience and/or warehouse experience in food distribution.

  • 1-year experience on IBM AS400.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Warehouse equipment and possibly forklift.


Physical Demand

  • Work is light to medium in nature with frequent walking to perform assigned tasks.

  • You must be able to communicate clearly with shippers and employees.

  • Physical inventories involve periods of prolonged standing.


Mental/Visual Demand

  • You must be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction.

  • In addition, must be able to perform a manual task, hear, sit, reach, lift, bend, and interact with others.


Working Condition

  • Activities occur both inside (protected from weather conditions but not temperature changes) and outside.

  • An employee is subjected to extreme cold while supervising in the freezer.

  • Hazardous conditions may exist, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and working in high places.


Equipment Operated

  • A calculator, copier, fax, PC, Microsoft Office applications, telephone and mainframe printer are typical equipment used in this position.

  • You may also be required to operate a pallet jack and forklift.
